Ministries at LCCW.E.L.C.A.W.E.L.C.A. ministry decription and goals coming soon.... W.E.L.C.A REPORT FOR 2009WELCA stands for Women of the ELCA. All women in the church are welcome to join. At the present time we have two evening Circles that meet in members’ homes. If you would like to join one please contact Jill Kummer, Lynnea Semasko, Myrna Salazar or Linda Sosnowski. If you would like to form a Circle that meets at another time you are welcome to do so. We meet once a month and have a Bible related study and also discuss ways we can serve the church needs at large. Esther Circle meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and serves at the fellowship hour between church services every other month. They also have fundraisers using Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chief in order to purchase devotionals for LCC members. January and August birthday parties at St Matthews Nursing Home are coordinated by Esther Circle. Birthday gifts and bingo prizes for the residents are donated by LCC members. The Busy Bags used by children during the church services are maintained by Esther Circle. This year Esther Circle supplied the Christmas ornaments for the Sunday School. Rebecca Circle meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. They also treat once a month at fellowship hour. Rebecca hosted the pie and coffee evening after our Thanksgiving Eve service. WELCA sponsored the annual Smorgasbord dinner followed by a Chicago Bronze concert. The chairpersons were June Hanson, Carole and Walker Reach, and Lynnea Semasko. (Walker is our honorary “male” WELCA member). WELCA provides kitchen upkeep and provisions for functions that are not fundraisers: coffee, juice, plastic and paper ware, etc. WELCA contributes to the synod at large and supports local and international charities through the synod. WELCA and Social Ministry worked together on the Rummage Sale which has become a huge success. Half of the proceeds have helped the needy through the food pantry. We also have been able to meet the needs within the church by purchasing devotionals for the church members, new calculator for the church office, computer and stand for Worship & Music, new phone for pastor’s office, $2000.00 towards new stove in back kitchen and new 30 cup coffee maker Plans for the coming year include:
