Evangelical Team (E-Team)

The purpose of the E-Team is to provide a feeling of welcome and hospitality to all guests who walk through our doors. The team also works to assist new members in making person-to-person connections in order to experience the personal care and the love of God, as well as helping them integrate into the church family.

EVANGELICAL TEAM REPORT FOR 2009

The E-Team committee continues to function as a two-person committee.  The range of possible programs that could be a part of this committee is endless; however, without additional committee members this committee is reluctant to add to the already heavy load.

The E-Team recruits greeters for the 9:00 a.m. service during the year and for the 10:00 a.m. service during the summer.  Greeters and ushers encourage visitors to fill out name tags and give first-time visitors a prepared informational visitor bag.  These bags include a recent newsletter, magnet board, survey card, and a “pop in soon” note.  A visitor note was added to the bulletin last year for visitors to indicate an interest in learning more about the church. This information is forwarded to Pastor Scott.  We maintain the friendship attendance/communion books each Sunday.  New inserts were made for the covers this year.  We sponsor New Member Sunday and the new member receptions.

The new member activities include:

  • holding a new member instructional meeting.
  • conducting a reception on New Member Sunday.
  • making new member packets, name tags, mailbox, new member certificates and providing offering envelopes.
  • taking pictures of the new members for the bulletin board and pictorial directory.
  • arranging for new members to add their hands to our Hand Quilt.

Again this fall we (with the help of volunteers) set up a booth at the “Mane Event”.  This is an event that showcases some of the businesses and organizations in the area.  Our booth contained photo boards showing the hunger walk, choir programs, children’s Christmas program, youth quake, Vacation Bible School, garage sale, and the food pantry.  Although this was a good way to show ourselves to the area, the booth rental expense and the difficulty of recruiting volunteers makes us question whether or not we will participate in this project again.

This committee also arranged to have the new logo and church information painted on both doors.  We help in updating the bulletin boards and the Welcome Center opportunity table.  We had copies of the church “Guiding Principles” framed to be hung throughout the church.  We ordered a dozen copies of the book, “Baptized We Live” and because we have only one remaining copy, we will order more in 2010.

This coming year we need to address the printing of new pictorial directories and finding a way of properly recording member attendance.  Attendance was maintained by the church secretary and we are hoping that the new secretary will again take on this responsibility.

We wish to thank members of the Finney family for their contributions: Amy for doing a wonderful job of keeping up the LCC historical scrapbook, Steve for all the pens, Don for the magnets and new Share God’s Love pins.  We also thank all the people who willingly serve as greeters and as sponsors for new members.

Respectfully submitted by E-Team Members: Lynnea Semasko and Mary Teppen.
